In an era when photography mostly exists as pixels on a screen, the analogue wet collodion process offers a physical experience of slowness, patience, and direct engagement with the materiality of the image.<\/p>\n
This full-day workshop introduces participants to a historical photographic technique developed in 1851. Preserved today as a distinctly artisanal and meditative practice, the process involves preparing a glass plate, applying a light-sensitive emulsion, exposing it using a vintage bellows camera, and developing the image in an improvised darkroom.<\/p>\n
The workshop is intended for anyone interested in hands-on photography, the history of the medium, and creating images without digital technology\u2014including artists, photographers, and curious beginners.<\/p>\n
Each participant will create their own portrait on glass to take home. Due to the delicate and time-sensitive nature of the process, the workshop is limited to a small group, allowing for individual mentoring and a focus on presence and concentration.<\/p>\n
