How to Become a Nature Filmmaker

This visually rich lecture is primarily aimed at early-career filmmakers and photographers who also want to gain experience in film production. Julie and Sabine will guide participants through preproduction, production, and postproduction, with a focus on local styles of visual storytelling and the use of editing to convey emotions. The lecture will be supported by visual examples, and participants will receive a PDF guide titled “How I Do It” to take home.

About the authors:

Sabine M. Probst Saavedra is a documentary filmmaker, founder of Seen Blue Conservation, and a TEDx speaker. Through her award-winning films and the Impact Storytelling podcast, she raises global awareness about the importance of ocean conservation.

Julie Busse is a video editor, NY Emmy nominee, whose editing style is inspired by dance and emphasizes storytelling through movement. She specializes in nature films and artistic cinema.
