Photography Workshop with Borut Peterlin

Wet Plate Collodion on Glass

In an era when photography mostly exists as pixels on a screen, the analogue wet collodion process offers a physical experience of slowness, patience, and direct engagement with the materiality of the image.

This full-day workshop introduces participants to a historical photographic technique developed in 1851. Preserved today as a distinctly artisanal and meditative practice, the process involves preparing a glass plate, applying a light-sensitive emulsion, exposing it using a vintage bellows camera, and developing the image in an improvised darkroom.

The workshop is intended for anyone interested in hands-on photography, the history of the medium, and creating images without digital technology—including artists, photographers, and curious beginners.

Each participant will create their own portrait on glass to take home. Due to the delicate and time-sensitive nature of the process, the workshop is limited to a small group, allowing for individual mentoring and a focus on presence and concentration.
