Carolina Arantes’ exhibition Holy Cow reveals one of the most powerful stories of our time – the global beef industry that reshapes Brazil’s landscapes and exerts a massive impact on the environment. Developed over eight years, the project documents this agricultural powerhouse and raises urgent questions about food, energy, and the climate crisis.
Its placement in the Dairy Farming Museum in Bohinj creates a unique dialogue: between the local tradition of alpine herding, which has shaped life in Bohinj for centuries, and the industrial cattle ranching in Brazil, which today defines the global future of food. A space preserving Bohinj’s pastoral heritage thus becomes a stage for reflecting on how different ways of coexisting with animals and nature influence our shared world.
